Broncos Aqib Talib loses appeal, must serve 1-game

Broncos Aqib Talib loses appeal, must serve 1-game

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Denver Broncos cornerback Tyler Lockett Authentic Jersey Aqib Talib lost his appeal on a one-game suspension Tuesday and will miss Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Talib is barred from attending team functions, including meetings and practices, during the week. The suspension, a result of Talib's poking Indianapolis tight end Dwayne Allen in the right eye in the closing minutes of Sunday's 27-24 Colts win at Lucas Oil Stadium, begins immediately. The suspension will cost Talib one game check, or $323,529 of his $5.5 million base salary. Talib said Monday he hoped to make his case by admitting he made a mistake by confronting Allen after a play and that "it was not intentional, I didn't walk over there like 'I'm going to poke this guy in his eye.'" "Obviously, [I'm] very disappointed," Broncos executive VP John Elway said in a statement. "We're all very disappointed, as a team, that it was not reduced." One of Talib's former teammates with the Dorial Greenbeckham Womens Jersey Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks, was the NFL's hearing officer for the appeal. Talib had his chance to offer his side of the story Tuesday. Talib had two penalties four plays apart in the final 2 minutes, 35 seconds of Sunday's game. The first was when Talib was flagged for poking Allen in the eye following some pushing and shoving after a 2-yard run by Frank Gore. Allen and Broncos linebacker Von Miller, after some initial post-play pushing and shoving, were facemask-to-facemask when Talib moved in and jabbed two fingers inside Allen's helmet. Allen said following Sunday's game he believed Talib deliberately poked Allen in the eye. Talib said he believed Allen had head-butted Miller. The NFL issued a statement Monday that Talib http://www.nfltexansofficialstore.com/Benardrick_Mckinney_Jersey was suspended "for unnecessary roughness ... for forcefully poking an opponent in the eye after the conclusion of a play." The statement added "Talib's action placed his opponent at unnecessary risk of injury and should have been avoided." Broncos coach Gary Kubiak, who sat next to Talib on the team's flight from Indianapolis to Denver Sunday night, said Talib made a mistake "and he knows that," but Kubiak believed "by no means did he, I'm convinced, have intentions of poking anybody in the eye."
