Broncos rooting guide: 3 games Denver fans should watch during bye week

Broncos rooting guide: 3 games Denver fans should watch during bye week
broncos-rooting-guide-3-games-denver-fans-should-watch-during-bye-week
but fans will still have plenty of exciting NFL action at their disposal.,The Denver Broncos will be enjoying their bye week this Sunday

Now if you only watch the Broncos and want to use your Sunday as a chance to do something else, here are some games you should tune into., that’s perfectly fine. But if you’re like me and you’ll watch any semblance of a football game

11:00 a.m. MT,1. Los Angeles Chargers @ New York Giants

the Giants are the team that is next up for the Broncos.,Though a matchup pitting two 0-4 teams against each other doesn’t seem all that appealing

fans could get a chance to see what they look like against a fellow AFC West team.,Here

or could they pose a threat against the Broncos?,Are the Giants really that bad

Root for: Los Angeles so Denver doesn’t face a team looking for its first win.

 2:05 p.m. MT,2. Baltimore Ravens @ Oakland Raiders

These are two teams going in the wrong direction. The Baltimore Ravens and Oakland Raiders each started 2-0 and they are each now 2-2.

Oakland will be forced to turn to E.J. Manuel to start the game at quarterback with Derek Carr out for at least the next two weeks.

Manuel’s play will dictate whether the Raiders can earn their third win of the season or not.,Though the Raiders are the home team

Root for: Baltimore so Denver builds a lead over Oakland in AFC West.

 6:30 p.m. MT,3. Kansas City Chiefs @ Houston Texans

the Kansas City Chiefs.,“Sunday Night Football” presents what should be the game of the week between the red-hot Houston Texans and the league’s last unbeaten team

Though the Chiefs have won three of the last four games against Houston, where this game will be played., the Texans handed them a 19-12 defeat last season at NRG Stadium

so the chance for the Texans to pull out a huge win is there.,The Chiefs will be coming into Houston on a short week after playing the Washington Redskins on Monday night

And how much would Denver fans love to see the Chiefs take their first loss of the season while the Broncos enjoy a nice week off?

Root for: Houston so Broncos can catch up to Kansas City in AFC West.

Broncos OLB Shane Ray (wrist) close to returning

Broncos third-year outside linebacker Shane Ray had the screws removed from his left wrist this week and he’s on pace to return three weeks from Monday on Oct. 30.

Denver placed Ray (6-3, 245 pounds) on injured reserve in September after the pass rusher underwent wrist surgery. Ray, is expected to return when the Broncos face the Chiefs on “Monday Night Football” in Week 8., who is eligible to return to the active roster eight weeks after being placed on injured reserve

Denver has a bye this week before hosting the Giants in Week 6 and facing the Chargers on the road in Week 7. So Ray will only miss two more games.

Before his injury, Ray may not immediately regain his starting job., Ray was listed as a starter on the team’s depth chart across from Von Miller. But with Shaq Barrett performing so well this season

Ray, was selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft. He recorded 68 tackles and eight sacks from 2015-16., 24

Kirk Cousins completed just 58 percent of his passes against the Chiefs on Monday night ... which was still the best by any quarterback against them this season. Kansas City has allowed a league-best 51 completion percentage en route to a 4-0 start.

This is the bye week for the Denver Broncos,Authentic Carlos Henderson Jersey, so the players could go anywhere they wanted on Sunday.

Broncos star linebacker Von Miller chose the sidelines of the Chiefs’ game in Houston.

the former Texas A&M star, was in College Station on Friday night,Miller, so perhaps that’s why he decided to head to Houston.

But the NFL tweeted a video of Miller on the sideline in Houston. Miller called the Chiefs-Texans a big game,Authentic Brendan Langley Jersey, because “we need the Chiefs to lose.”

The Broncos are 3-1, a game behind the 4-0 Chiefs.

A little bit of redemption was delivered by the Boise State football team Friday night.

the Broncos came out flat against BYU at LaVell Edwards Stadium,With two weeks to stew over a surprising loss to Virginia, a place where they had lost their last two visits and hadn’t won since 2003.

But after throwing an interception on the first drive and allowing an ensuing touchdown,Womens Chad Kelly Jersey, Boise State’s 24-7 win showed resilience. The Broncos stepped up in areas where they struggled in September and created some hope for the upcoming Mountain West slate.

especially coming off these last two weeks, knowing how we actually can play. ... We can run with anybody,“It’s good for us,” Boise State junior linebacker Leighton Vander Esch said.

the first such losing streak for BYU since 1970. Success came from some unexpected sources,The Broncos (3-2) sent the Cougars (1-5) to a fifth straight loss,Authentic Paxton Lynch Jersey, too.

Junior quarterback Brett Rypien was intercepted on his first pass attempt of the game. Ten plays later, the Cougars took a 7-0 lead on a 3-yard Ula Tolutau run. It was BYU’s first touchdown against an FBS team in the first quarter this season.

who had not thrown a touchdown pass all season, hit sophomore wide receiver Sean Modster on a 24-yard scoring strike with 36 seconds left before halftime to stake the Broncos to a 17-7 lead. That capped a seven-play,Rypien, 74-yard drive that took just 1 minute,Womens Adam Gotsis Jersey, 27 seconds.

It was the first career touchdown catch for Modster, who dropped three passes in the Broncos’ 42-23 loss to Virginia on Sept. 22.

overall in the game, I thought that was big.”, was extremely big for us going into halftime,“That one right there,” Boise State coach Bryan Harsin said. “For Brett and Sean, those two guys to connect on a play

16-play,Boise State put the game out of reach early in the fourth quarter with a methodical, 82-yard drive that was finished off by sophomore Alexander Mattison’s 2-yard TD run. The Broncos converted four third downs on the drive.

Mattison rushed for a season-high 118 yards on 29 carries, and the Broncos’ 158 rushing yards were a vast improvement over the 30 yards they put up in the 42-23 loss to Virginia on Sept. 22.

just knowing that we don’t have the time, and we attacked it.”, we don’t have the space, the opportunity,“It was just a mindset, to sit there and dance around. We’ve got to hit it downhill and fast and physical,” Mattison said. “That’s what we came into the game prepared to do

who had a walking boot on his right foot. Sophomore Garrett Larson stepped in to create the fifth line combination in five games and helped keep Rypien clean,The Broncos didn’t have senior center Mason Hampton, as the line did not allow a sack for the first time this season.

especially the offensive line. ... I think they did a much better job tonight,“Can’t say enough about these guys,” Rypien said.

it shut down a BYU offense that had hoped to get a spark from Eagle High graduate Tanner Mangum,And let’s not forget about the defense. Coming off a rough performance, a victor over Boise State when he faced the Broncos two years ago in Provo.

the Cougars mustered just 190 yards. They never again made it past the Broncos’ 35-yard line. Mangum was 18-of-33 passing for 164 yards, falling off after an 8-of-9 start. He was intercepted twice,On 10 drives after Tolutau’s touchdown, by safety Kekoa Nawahine and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch.

Nawahine’s 51-yard return in the second quarter set up a 20-yard Haden Hoggarth field goal that gave the Broncos a 10-7 lead with 3:49 left in the first half, a lead they never relinquished.

“I thought we had some open guys downfield and he threw it to the wrong guy,Womens Brendan Langley Jersey,” BYU coach Kalani Sitake said of Mangum. “Just bad reads. I’m not really going to sugarcoat it.”

Now Boise State will try to convert its small steps forward into a giant leap when the Broncos travel to No. 19 San Diego State for an 8:30 p.m. kickoff next Saturday on CBS Sports Network. The Aztecs (5-0) are the two-time defending Mountain West champions.
