Evander Kane Traded to Sharks from Sabres for Prospect

Evander Kane Traded to Sharks from Sabres for Prospect
evander-kane-traded-to-sharks-from-sabres-for-prospect

Kane joined the Sabres from the Winnipeg Jets in February 2015, and he found moderate success in his new home during his first full season with Buffalo.

Kane notched 20 goals and 15 assists in 65 games of the 2015-16 season. He also finished with a career-worst minus-14.

however,He was solid for the Sabres in the 2017-18 season, registering 20 goals and 20 assists in 61 games.

for a player who was once heralded as a future superstar after he was selected fourth overall in the 2009 draft,Still, those numbers haven't inspired much confidence Kane will reach his ceiling as a true offensive force.

It also hasn't helped that Kane's image has taken a hit in the past because of legal troubles.

According to the Buffalo News' John Vogl, Kane was charged "with misdemeanor criminal trespass and five noncriminal charges of disorderly conduct and harassment in connection with encounters he allegedly had with female patrons and a bouncer at a Buffalo bar in June [2016]."

according to the Associated Press ,adidas Wayne Simmonds jersey,Those charges were dismissed in October 2016, but the alleged actions did not reflect positively on him outside of the rink.

"His conduct could be described as arrogant, adidas Claude Giroux jersey, per the Associated Press. , but at the end of the day, surly and boorish, adidas Shayne Gostisbehere jersey, what he did did not rise to the level of a criminal offense," Erie County District Attorney Michael Flaherty said

Minnesota returns home after winning all three games of an East Coast road trip to face San Jose, which has lost two in a row as it ends a four-game road trip Sunday.

but you don’t win. So that’s tough.”,Authentic Sidney Crosby jersey,“It’s this time of year,” Sharks defenseman Brent Burns told NHL.com after Friday’s 3-1 loss in Chicago. “It’s frustrating to lose. You bounce back after a tough night, adidas Sidney Crosby jersey, what really matters is two points, did some things well

the packed standings in the West concern all the teams.,San Jose (33-21-8) is second in the Pacific Division, one point ahead of Anaheim and Calgary. While the Sharks are a top-three team in their division, which would mean a spot in the playoffs

which is fifth in the Pacific and 10th in the West.,Four points separated Minnesota (34-20-7), third in the Central heading into Saturday, with Los Angeles

just want to get there.”,“We’re just building to make the playoffs, second or third. There’s not a weak team in the top 10 or top 12,” Wild coach Bruce Boudreau told NHL.com. “We don’t care if it’s first, so it doesn’t matter

which made the successful trip to the New York metropolitan area vitally important. Minnesota beat the Islanders,The Wild have built their footing with their play on home ice, Devils and Rangers.

but we need every single point we can get. To be able to come through a tough road trip and get all six points is huge for us.”,“It’s huge. Not often are you going to come through New York and get all three wins, with the playoff race,” Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk told the team’s website. “Right now, I say it every day

As both teams try to accumulate as many points as possible, they could make moves before Monday’s trade deadline.

The Sharks suddenly are in the thick of the rumor mill. TSN’s Pierre LeBrun tweeted Saturday that San Jose is one of the teams that has talked to Ottawa about star defenseman Erik Karlsson, who would be a big addition to the back end for a team that’s 14th in the NHL in goals per game.

a former Wild draft pick,Sharks general manager Doug Wilson also told the San Jose Mercury News that Burns is playing through an upper-body injury. Burns, played 25:58 on Friday and had an assist.

“I think everybody is (playing hurt). It’s that time of year,Authentic Wayne Simmonds jersey,” Burns told the Mercury News. “It’s fine.”

Minnesota hopes Friday’s game against the Rangers demonstrated a bit of internal improvement.

two assists and seven shots on goal. Staal added two goals and two assists.,Mikael Granlund,Authentic Claude Giroux jersey, who had gone 11 games without a goal, was on a line with Wild leading scorer Eric Staal and had two goals

you want to be out there with him and you want to try and get him some touches,Authentic Shayne Gostisbehere jersey,“He’s a guy that when you can see him feeling it,” Staal told the team’s website. “He seems to make things happen and tonight the puck seemed to be following him around a little bit once he got that first one.

“He’s one of those guys that when he gets the offensive vibes going, adidas Sidney Crosby jersey,he can be a difference maker.”

Boudreau said he wanted to “try it for a period and see how it goes.” Granlund and Staal will be together at the start Sunday.

every time he touches the puck he’s a threat to do something good with it. It was fun to watch,Authentic Nolan Patrick jersey,“When he’s on and he’s feeling it like that,” Boudreau told Wild.com of Granlund.

“Especially after he got his first goal, I think he felt a little bit of relief there and he started to go after that.”

Evander Kane was a man on the move Monday night, adidas Nolan Patrick jersey, shuffling out of Buffalo to San Jose after getting traded to the Sharks and eventually landing in the Bay Area at midnight.

His ride to a hotel? None other than injured Sharks star Joe Thornton.

Kane gets no time to rest. The Sharks host Edmonton tonight to open a six-game homestand and Kane will be at left wing on the top line with captain Joe Pavelski at center and Joonas Donskoi at right wing.

referring to the Sabres' two weekend contests that he was forced to sit out to avoid injury. “Get the hands going and just do what I do best and hopefully the rest will take care of itself.”,"My approach tonight? Well, so just trying to get the legs going a little bit,Authentic Sidney Crosby jersey, I’ve been a healthy scratch the last two games,” Kane told San Jose reporters

" said coach Peter DeBoer,"We’re going to play him, who indicated Kane could slide on to the No. 1 power play unit. "He’s going to play as much as he can handle and as much as he does to help us win.”

Evander Kane made an immediate impact in his San Jose debut by assisting on two goals during a four-goal second period and delivering a few big hits that helped the Sharks beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 on Tuesday night.

Joe Pavelski had a goal and three assists while centering San Jose's top line with Kane on his left wing. Justin Braun, Timo Meier and Logan Couture also scored in the second to help the Sharks snap a three-game losing streak and remain in sole possession of second place in the Pacific Division. Chris Tierney added an empty-net goal.

Martin Jones allowed a first-period goal by Connor McDavid and a third-period tally by Jesse Puljujarvi but made 24 saves for the win.

The Sharks looked like a different team than the one that stumbled in the final three games of their recent road trip, getting outscored 13-4. General manager Doug Wilson provided a big boost Monday when he dealt two conditional 2019 draft picks and prospect Danny O'Regan to Buffalo for Kane.

and Joonas Donskoi.,Kane, leaped at the new opportunity and quickly caught a cross-country flight to join his new team. He got acclimated at the morning skate and moved right onto the top line with Pavelski, who has never made the playoffs in his nine seasons, his former teammate in Russia during the 2012-13 lockout

That line was San Jose's most dangerous right from the start as Kane had a couple of wraparound attempts in the first period before helping the Sharks get on the scoreboard in the second.

Kane hit Matt Benning in the corner to start the sequence on San Jose's first goal when he sent a shot from the boards that Pavelski redirected past Cam Talbot to tie the game at 1.

who had just seven points in his final 26 games with the Sabres,Kane, added a secondary assist on Braun's goal that gave the Sharks the lead and then got into a scuffle with Benning in front of the net later in the second.

Kane's line then hemmed the Oilers in on the forecheck later in the third, leading to Meier's 16th goal after a line change against a weary defense.

Couture broke it open with his 26th of the season late in the second, ending the Oilers' three-game winning streak.

McDavid got Edmonton off to a fast start with his 13th goal in the past 14 games. Andrej Sekera blocked a shot from Marc-Edouard Vlasic, sending McDavid in on a 2-on-1 that he converted.
