Giants have five interviews scheduled, none with Jim Schwartz

Giants have five interviews scheduled, none with Jim Schwartz
giants-have-five-interviews-scheduled-none-with-jim-schwartz

Schwartz has yet to have an interview scheduled, even if he is a reported top candidate for the job.

The Giants have until the end of this week to interview Schwartz, or they can't interview him until after the Eagles season is completed. If the Eagles reach the Super Bowl, the Giants will just have the chance to interview Schwartz the week prior the Eagles would travel to Minneapolis.

The Hall of Fame named him to the all-decade team honor and in 2007 the Packers inducted him into their Hall of Fame.

In addition to helping the Packers win the Super Bowl in 1996, Butler is known for inventing the “Lambeau Leap,” a touchdown celebration he started in 1993 after finishing a defensive touchdown with a leap into the stands.

The other Hall of Fame finalists are linebackers Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher, wide receivers Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Isaac Bruce, tackles Tony Boselli and Joe Jacoby, guards Steve Hutchinson and Alan Faneca, running back Edgerrin James, cornerback Ty Law and Everson Walls and center Kevin Mawae.

Former Packers guard Jerry Kramer and former Houston Oilers linebacker Robert Brazille are senior finalists for election to the Hall of Fame during Super Bowl weekend in Minneapolis.

Cam Newton said he lives for pressure-packed moments.

But so far the Panthers seventh-year quarterback has been mediocre in the postseason, something he hopes to improve upon when the Panthers visit the Saints on Sunday in the NFC playoffs.

Newton is 3-3 all-time in the postseason, with his last playoff game culminating in an emotionally devastating 24-10 loss to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.

Outside of a riveting performance in a 49-15 win over the Arizona Cardinals in the 2015 NFC championship game, Newton's statistics in the postseason have been average. He has completed just 59.7 percent of his passes for eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. He's run for only two TDs, both of those coming in the playoff rout of the Cardinals.

"This is when the real football starts," Newton said after Wednesday's practice. "This is where you're made or you're broke — and I look forward to these moments because it brings out the best in the individual because there is so much pressure. And we all know pressure does one of two things. We're hoping to shine like diamonds on Sunday."

The Saints (11-5) have already defeated Carolina (11-5) twice this season, including a 31-21 victory on Dec. 3.

But that doesn't bother the NFL's 2015 league MVP, who is expecting to bounce back from the worst statistical game of his game of his career in a 22-10 loss last Sunday at Atlanta.

His quarterback rating of 31.5 in a 22-10 loss to the Falcons was the worst of his 109 career starts. He misfired on his first nine passes and had three second half interceptions. Yet he believes the problems in that game are easily fixable and the Panthers can rebound and rediscover the mojo that helped them win seven of eight games before the Falcons fiasco.

"It just wasn't clicking," Newton said. "And it was internal. So self-inflicted things and that's never good for you. ... Protecting the football is important and I have to do a way better job of doing that."

This isn't first time the Panthers have battled adversity, Authentic Jordan Berry Jersey, which isn't lost on the former Heisman Trophy winner who won a national championship at Auburn.

Even Panthers coach Ron Rivera referred to this as a "tumultuous" season.

The Panthers endured the off-field distractions from get go with the firing of general manager Dave Gettleman on the eve of training camp. That was followed by the midseason trade of No. 1 wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, the negative feedback from Newton's sexist comments to a female reporter and the alleged sexual and racial misconduct surrounding team owner Jerry Richardson, who now plans to sell the team.

And that doesn't even include the injuries which kept three-time Pro Bowl tight Greg Olsen and two-time All-Pro center Ryan Kalil out of most of the season.

Newton said the Panthers have learned to "weather the storm," which has brought them closer together as a team.

Carolina's wide receiving corps remains a muddled mess and the Panthers still don't appear to have a defined role for rookie running back Christian McCaffrey. But Olsen will play against the Saints for the first time this year giving Newton more options,Womens Stephon Tuitt Jersey, and running back Jonathan Stewart (back stiffness) and guard Trai Turner (concussion) are expected back from injuries this week.

But the reality is the Panthers will only go as far as Newton can take them in the postseason.

Not only is he the Panthers' leading passer, he's also their leading rusher.

"We've got to keep Cam from trying to run all over the field, try to make him be more of a pocket passer,Womens Chris Boswell Jersey," said Saints defensive tackle Tyeler Davison.

Saints defensive lineman Sheldon Rankins said the Saints have been able to throw Newton off the last two games by disguising coverages and giving him multiple looks. Newton has two TD passes and three interceptions in two games against the Saints which the Panthers have lost by a combined margin of 65-34.

"Not allowing him to get a bead on where the coverage is rolling down to, who's coming, different stunts up front,Womens Alejandro Villanueva Jersey, who's not," Rankins said. "If you can always keep Cam on his toes, it definitely gives you the best chance to win."

Rivera said he expects Newton to play well.

"He's a guy that tends to bounce back after a tough outing," Rivera said. "We had a tough outing. He's going to prepare,Authentic Mike Mitchell Jersey, as a football team, be ready. We, will prepare and be ready."

Musgrave opened last season as the team’s quarterbacks coach was promoted to interim offensive coordinator when the Broncos fired Mike McCoy in November. He’s also had experience running offenses for Philadelphia, Jacksonville,Womens David DeCastro Jersey, Carolina, Minnesota and Oakland over his two decades as a coach at the professional and college levels.

Musgrave drew good reviews from Broncos players for simplifying the offense after taking over for McCoy, although it remains to be seen how many of them he’ll be working with in 2018 as the Broncos are set to make changes at quarterback and elsewhere before returning to action.

After letting go of offensive line coach Jeff Davidson, Authentic Ramon Foster Jersey, the Broncos fired special teams coordinator Brock Olivo, and running backs coach Eric Studesville, wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert, per multiple reports.

The pink slips come hours after head coach Vance Joseph was told he'd return for 2018, likely on the condition that major changes would be made to his staff.

Olivo, hired last offseason, underscored by Isaiah McKenzie's six muffed punts and Brandon McManus' eight missed field goals. The unit took a giant step back under Olivo, is one-and-done with the organization following a brutal year of special teams efforts, a rookie coordinator who replaced respected veteran Joe DeCamillis.

Tolbert is considered a surprise firing due to his tenure and affability. He'd been with the team since 2011, surviving multiple regime changes, however, and was well liked by players and media alike. Tolbert, hadn't developed a receiver not named Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, failing to squeeze production out of 2014 second-round pick Cody Latimer.

A consummate professional, Tolbert took the news in stride.

"I've been very blessed for me and my family for being here 7 years," he told Mike Klis of 9News. "Great organization. I know this is part of business. Want to thank Bronco fans and players for 7 great years.''

Studesville had been the longest-tenured coach in Denver, hired by Josh McDaniels in 2010. He was promoted to assistant head coach this season, working alongside Joseph, who just notched his first career 1, and his dismissal appears to have been wholly unexpected. Running back C.J. Anderson,000-yard season under Studesville,Authentic Chris Boswell Jersey, is none too pleased.

Now add John Fox and Jim Caldwell to the canned column, as Bruce Arians walks away and Vance Joseph gets spared.

The Bears fired Fox and the Lions Caldwell on “Black Monday,” on which there have been at least six coaching changes every year since 2011,Authentic Alejandro Villanueva Jersey, a streak that is expected to continue in 2018.

Fox had refused to address his future following a lackluster loss at Minnesota. He left the podium after a brief and terse postgame news conference.

Fox was 14-34 in three seasons with the Bears (5-11). In his last loss,Womens Jordan Berry Jersey, Chicago didn’t cross midfield until the fourth quarter and totaled only 30 yards rushing. The Bears were penalized 10 times for 116 yards and were 1 of 14 on third and fourth downs.

Caldwell gave the Lions (9-7) consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 1995. It wasn’t enough to save his job. Caldwell went 36-28 in four years and had two playoff postseason appearances.

Not this year, for the second consecutive year, they're not. In fact,Authentic David DeCastro Jersey, the Broncos will not raise ticket prices. It’s no coincidence the ticket freezes have occurred after the Broncos missed the playoffs each of the past two years.

The Broncos lost 7 of their last 12 games in 2016 to finish 9-7 and slumped to 5-11 in Vance Joseph’s first year as head coach in 2017.

The average price of a Broncos’ general-admission ticket (not including premium and luxury suite seating) stays at a little more than $101, which is about the NFL average. (The Broncos did raise ticket prices each year following their five-year playoff run from 2011-15). The Broncos’ average ticket price for all seats is $190.

The secondary market suggests the Broncos could charge more. According to Vivid Seats, the Broncos commanded an average priced ticket of $302 in 2017,Womens Mike Mitchell Jersey, second only to the $380 average price for New England Patriots' secondary-market tickets. The NFL's average priced ticket on the secondary market is $172.
