Jay Grudens Monday injury updates contained, more bad news for the Redskins, somehow
Coach Jay Gruden said Monday that there are 13 players who currently are questionable for the game in Seattle this Sunday. They have only seven spots on the game day inactive list so they may need to perform some triage to figure out who will wear a uniform.

There are some players who already are penciled into that inactive list. Gruden said that TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) and DL Matt Ioannidis (hand) are unlikely to be able to play against the Seahawks.

Reed will need at least this week off to heal his hamstring strain. Ioannidis will have surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand on Tuesday. He may be able to play through the injury at some point but it won't be this week.

has an ankle sprain and his status is day to day.  , the team will hold a walkthrough on Tuesday and Gruden said that he doesn't know who will line up at the critical left tackle spot for that workout. Trent Williams is still nursing a knee injury that eventually will require surgery and forced him to miss the Dallas game. Ty Nsekhe, the primary backup at tackle,The offensive line remains in limbo due to the injury issues. As usual, who started at left tackle on Sunday, has been out since Week 4 with a core muscle injury and will start to ramp up his workload this week. And T.J. Clemmings

Gruden was hopeful that they will be able to get Pro Bowl right guard Brandon Scherff back on the field to play against Seattle. He suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in Week 7 against the Eagles and it forced him to miss a game for the first time since the team drafted him in 2015.

Center Spencer Long is week-to-week with knee tendonitis. It would be surprising if he played this week. Gruden did say that he was pleased with how well rookie Chase Roullier played in his place.

The overall impression of the Washington Redskins 33-19 loss to the Dallas Cowboys is one of “what ifs.”

What if the injuries to the Redskins starters hadn’t been so extensive going into the contest? What if they hadn’t suffered all those injuries during the game? What if the weather hadn’t been so bad… would there have been so many turnovers? What if the officials had been watching the clock at the end of the game?

In a game where the Redskins starting offensive line had just two of its starters on the field (LG Shawn Lauvao and RT Morgan Moses… T.J. Clemmings, Spencer Long and Brandon Scherff); the Redskins offense surprisingly had a few well-executed offensive plays interspersed throughout the game. There just weren’t enough of them., Chase Roullier and Tyler Catalina were filling in for Trent Williams

The Redskins extensive injuries and turnovers in the game were simply insurmountable.

 however.,Things were OK early

A fumble from Cowboys RB Zeke Elliott on Dallas’ first possession was recovered by the Redskins defense and was just what the doctor ordered to start the game.

Washington’s offense took over on Dallas’ 29-yard-line and scored a field goal after three plays to put the score at 3-0.

That effectiveness was unsustainable without the starting offensive line against such a good Dallas defensive front. A lot of the time, getting drilled hard early by Cowboys DE Demarcus Lawrence., Washington QB Kirk Cousins was under pressure

Dallas QB Dak Prescott and his unit moved the chains at will for too much of the game.,On the other side

the Cowboys scored a touchdown five minutes into the first quarter on an Elliott 13-yard run and the score became 7-3.,In fact

mixing up RB Rob Kelley runs with passes and the team got into the red zone.,Washington got the ball back and benefited from a Dallas roughing the passer penalty. A nice Redskins drive ensued

75-yard drive that took up 3:56,Much of the drive was Washington RB Rob Kelley and the offensive line and, Kelley scored a TD on a one-yard run to put the score at 10-7., on a seven-play

The patchwork offensive line was playing decently at that point and, Kelley handed the ball to right tackle Morgan Moses who spiked it., after the TD

On Dallas’ next possession they had the ball for almost eight minutes into the second quarter but Washington DC Greg Manusky made some decent adjustments and, his defense held them to a FG… which they missed., even as long as the Cowboys had the ball

Washington’s young undrafted free agent kicker Nick Rose kicked a 42-yard field goal to increase the Redskins’ lead and put the score at 13-7.,The next Redskins drive consisted of a couple of huge plays by RB Chris Thompson and this backed the Cowboys’ defense off a bit. After seven plays

A Redskins attempted field goal late in the second quarter was blocked seemed to change the momentum. Dallas CB Orlando Scandrick recovered the blocked kick on the Redskins two-yard line and Dallas scored a touchdown on the next play to bring the score to 14-13 Dallas.

The rest of the game was strange.

Washington’s defense was impressive at times.

and Kerrigan logged two sacks.,LBs Ryan Kerrigan and Preston Smith both had good pressure on Prescott

But the Redskins offense could not stay on the field.

the Cowboys recorded just a field goal and the score was 17-13 Cowboys.,Cousins had sack/fumble which Dallas recovered. Thanks to Washington’s stout defense though

again,On the ensuing Cowboys kick off, Dallas recovered., Thompson fumbled the return and

The Redskins defense remained strong in the third quarter and held the Cowboys to one FG and then another after that to bring the score to 23-13 Dallas late in the third period.

By the start of the fourth quarter, the Cowboys’ lead felt much bigger than 10 points., the Redskins were numerically still in the game because of the defense but the offense had not been able to keep the ball for any sustained amount of time. In fact

there seemed to be hope when Washington put together a 14-play drive for a touchdown on a pass to WR Josh Doctson. The score was only 26-19 (Dallas) however because Rose missed the extra point.,When the Redskins punted early in the fourth quarter and Dallas scored another FG to make it 26-13

Cousins threw a short pass over the middle toward Thompson. The pass was intercepted by Cowboys safety Byron Jones deep in their territory and he easily ran it in for a touchdown.,Washington’s defense held the Cowboys scoreless late into the fourth quarter and on second-and-six at the Redskins 12-yard-line with :54 left

The score was now 33-19 Dallas and out of the Redskins reach.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden listed the injuries and the situation has worsened.,After the game

LT T.J. Clemmings (ankle) all were hurt during the game., LG Shawn Lauvao (stinger), TE Niles Paul (concussion),TE Jordan Reed (hamstring), S Stefan McClure (hamstring), DL Matt Ioannidis (fractured hand)

and a hurry in 45 pass blocking snaps according to PFF.,Right guard Morgan Moses, playing on two bad ankles, a QB hit, was admirable but clearly hurting; allowing a sack

Outside Linebacker Preston Smith didn’t have a sack or a QB hit, even though it seemed worse than this at times; there were only five missed tackles on defense. Safety D.J. Swearinger was the only defender that had more than one missed tackle (he had two) but he also had four stops., but he was an effective pass rusher for Washington with four hurries on 22 blitzes. ILBs Zach Brown and Will Compton (starting for Mason Foster) tied for a team-high five stops. And

a TD and an INT. Kelley was the leading rusher with 19 yards on eight carries. Jamison Crowder led the wideouts with nine catches for 123 yards.,Cousins completed 26 of 39 pass attempts for 263 yards

the Redskins were clearly affected adversely. For a team to lose three starting offensive linemen is unheard of and it clearly impacted Cousins ability to get passes off. He was sacked four times.,Womens Preston Smith Jersey,Teams will never use injuries as an excuse when games are lost but in this Week 8 game

you could say the color resembled dried blood.,T.J. Clemmings limped away. The game was over,Authentic 12th Fan Jersey, the displays of sportsmanship were ending, the drenched home team's throwback jerseys had turned from burgundy to brown. Or if you really wanted to get carried away with the wounded metaphor, and the rain - like the Washington Redskins' injuries - persisted. By then

he was the last player visible.,Clemmings,Authentic Arthur Brown Jersey, Washington's No. 3 left tackle thrust into an emergency starting role,Womens Russell Wilson Jersey, but 30 players passed him en route to the locker room. Clemmings lowered his head and winced through ankle pain. By the time he reached the tunnel, kept limping as frustrated players trudged off FedEx Field after a 33-19 loss to Dallas on Sunday. He was ahead of a pack by 10 yards

too., just as it was unsettling to witness another game of rampant attrition. A day that began with too many injuries to give Washington a real chance ended with eight more players exiting the game at least temporarily with a health concern. The injury report included Jordan Reed and Niles Paul, two of the team's three active tight ends. And Shawn Lauvao,It was difficult to watch,Womens Steve Largent Jersey, went down, who entered as the offensive line's only healthy starter

but I have a word limit. Here's what you need to know: This is a sad version of a team that was starting to get your hopes up. And this sad version has no chance of surviving the next few weeks without a half dozen medical miracles.,There were more losses

"It's tough, shaking his head. "I don't really know what to say. It's tough."," running back Chris Thompson said

the facts aren't going anywhere. The injuries aren't an excuse; they're a reality that seems impossible to overcome.,Washington is still competitive and crazy enough to believe it has a chance. But even though this team talks about not making excuses

settling for field goals and watching the defense give up too many big gains to a depleted opponent., and they showed that early, spotting Washington three points after Ezekiel Elliott's fumble on the first play from scrimmage,How impossible? Consider this game. The Cowboys aren't very good, going away from their strengths on offense at times, falling behind 13-7

for that matter - not some spirited performance from the undermanned squad.,On this soggy day, they were also limited by the weather. But despite all Dallas did to assist Washington, but that was more about the clumsiness of the Cowboys - and all NFL teams this season, the Redskins weren't going to win. It may have been a one-possession game with less than five minutes remaining

every mistake is magnified., pick-six interception, or Thompson's kickoff return fumble,Give Washington credit for playing with resilience. Scrutinize how three turnovers and several special teams gaffes contributed to what could have been an even closer game. Point to quarterback Kirk Cousins' fumble and late, as mistakes that can't happen. But when a team is overmatched and straining to beat unfortunate odds, or the game-changing blocked field goal fiasco

" Coach Jay Gruden admitted.,"We're just trying to adjust to the personnel we have available

and right tackle Morgan Moses - who played on two bad ankles - was the only regular offensive line starter., with the line needing help and the weather playing a factor, Gruden wanted to rely even more on plays using two or three tight ends. But Paul left early with a concussion. Later,The tight ends were going to be a key part of the game plan. They're always important because that unit is one of Washington's strengths. But in this game, Vernon Davis was the only healthy tight end, Reed was lost to a hamstring injury. By game's end

If the tight ends had been excluded from this trauma, it wouldn't have had to attempt to rally from a two-touchdown deficit., Washington could have won this game. At the very least

" Thompson said of their importance. "It adds extra elements to our offense. ,"It's huge

Jordan is basically a receiver,Authentic Matt Jones Jersey, and however the defense reacts it's a tell for Kirk of whether they're playing man-to-man or zone or whatever. , so the defense doesn't know what we're going to do in our sets when we play multiple tight ends. You put Jordan in motion

Vernon, but he can still fly for a tight end. He's such a deep threat. And Niles is a little bit of both of them., he's 75 years old

especially when you're O-line is hurting and you need more blocking.","We can run all of our plays through a two tight end set that we would with three wide receivers. It's a huge advantage

123 yards), it could've been worse.,Even with Jamison Crowder playing his best game (nine catches, Washington managed just 285 yards. Cousins threw 39 passes, but considering that you knew these linemen by number more than name, Washington wasn't going to get much out of staying committed to the run. Cousins was sacked four times, and the team rushed only 15 times for 49 yards. You're not going to win in the rain with that kind of imbalance. Then again, with a line full of backups and players signed off the street

whew., its playoff hopes are dwindling. But, hey,It could've been worse. That's a frustrating truth. The team just fell to 0-3 in the NFC East. At 3-4 and amid a stretch of tough competition,Authentic Preston Smith Jersey, and the game was kind of close. So,Womens Matt Jones Jersey, Cousins didn't get killed

this poor,It's just sad. You can pick out little things that anger you,Womens Arthur Brown Jersey, injured team did the best it could. And that's not a fun conclusion., but in the big picture

never seen this type of injury bug bite a team like it's bitten us.",,Womens 12th Fan Jersey,"You really can't make this up," said Trent Williams, playing football, the team's normal left tackle. "This is something that I've never in my life

trying to be hopeful: "We're 3-4. There's still a lot of ball left.",Said Gruden

that sounds like too much opportunity to get hurt.,Authentic Steve Largent Jersey,Nine more games? Right now

After Clemmings was injured on Cousins's touchdown pass to Josh Doctson, which doesn't even exist. It moved guard Tyler Catalina to protect Cousins' blind side., the team went to its No. 4 left tackle

The score was 26-19 with 4:35 left. Washington had a chance. The moment should have inspired belief.

Gruden tapped him on the arm,Authentic Russell Wilson Jersey,But Clemmings went down and stayed down for a good while. Minutes later, said a few encouraging words and shook his head., after he grimaced and hobbled to the sideline

it had no chance.,Even when Washington had a chance
