Premier League predictions: Lawro v Peaky Blinders actor Joe Cole
premier-league-predictions-lawro-v-peaky-blinders-actor-joe-cole
BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson http://www.nflgiantsofficialonline.com/GIANTS-RUEBEN-RANDLE-JERSEY is pitting his wits against a different guest each week this season. His opponent for this weekend's Premier League fixtures is Joe Cole. No, not the famous footballer, but his actor namesake who is currently appearing in gangster drama Peaky Blinders on BBC Two. Appropriately enough, given that the footballer Joe Cole started his career at Upton Park, his acting namesake is a Hammers fan, who calls himself @theotherJoeCole on Twitter and is backing Sam Allardyce's side to enjoy a high-scoring win over Manchester United when they go to Old Trafford on Saturday. You can see all of Joe's predictions on Football Focus at 12:10 BST on Saturday on BBC One and the BBC Sport website. A correct result (picking a win, draw or defeat) is worth ONE point. Getting the exact score correct earns THREE points. Last weekend, Lawro got five correct results from 10 Premier League games, with one perfect score. His total of seven points saw him beat former Celtic manager Neil Lennon who got two correct results with no perfect scores, for a tally of two. We're keeping a record of the totals for Lawro and his guests (below), and showing a table of how the Premier League would look if all of Lawro's predictions were correct (at the bottom of the page). Liverpool were poor in their defeat by West Ham last week and it is frightening how much they are missing the injured Daniel Sturridge up front. It does not look like Sturridge will be fit to face Everton and, without him, at the top end of the pitch the Reds do not have much pace apart from Raheem Sterling. Steven Gerrard got criticised for the way he played against the Hammers but he has got nobody up there to pick out with his long balls at the moment, which means opposing teams can squeeze up on Liverpool and deny them space. It means Liverpool are finding it difficult Jim Dray Kids Jersey to turn their possession and passes into chances, and Sterling is their only player who looks a threat. It's not been a good start for Brendan Rodgers' side in any department to be honest, but I look at their team and think they will get better. The same could be said about Everton. They have been up and down so far this season and, like Liverpool, they have problems at the back. You just know they will have a real go at Anfield, though, and I can see this ending up in a draw. I think Everton would take one, while Liverpool would be disappointed, but I cannot back Liverpool to win because I don't think they are playing well enough. Villa had a tough time before their defeat by Arsenal last week because of the virus that hit their squad and led to them closing their training ground. They will be over that now but it is a very big ask for them to bounce back with a positive result at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea had to battle to see off Villa in this fixture last season but now they are a much better team. The Blues looked very comfortable to me in their draw at Manchester City on Sunday and I can only see one outcome here. What a result for Leicester against Manchester United on Sunday. No wonder Gary Lineker was swearing on Twitter. Everything about the Foxes was just Rashard Mendenhall Youth Jersey great in that game. At 3-1 they could have thrown the towel in, thinking they were going to end up getting hammered. But instead they just kept going. They had identified United's weaknesses and they played on them, perfectly. Playing Crystal Palace will be a completely different test, however, and it will be very interesting to see Leicester's performance, let alone their result, after such a fantastic display. The Eagles have taken five points from three games under Neil Warnock and, although they have not had the same stand-out performance as the Foxes, they have got quite a bit in common. Both of these teams have quite a lot of pace in them and I am expecting a high-tempo game, with Palace to edge it.
