Satterfield out as Tennessee Tech Head Coach

Satterfield out as Tennessee Tech Head Coach

The school announced the move Sunday, a day after a shut out loss to UT Martin.

Tennessee Tech will begin the new search for a coach and have named offensive coordinator Tyree Foreman as acting head coach.

Dallas’s Ezekiel Elliott served the second installment of his six-game NFL suspension, 9-7, and the Eagles lost kicker Jake Elliott in the first quarter of a game the  Cowboys led, at the half..

Jake Elliott went in to be evaluated for a head injury shortly after missing a 34-yard field goal. Earlier, Elliott had to make the tackle to keep Ryan Switzer from going all the way. That apparently was when Elliott suffered the concussion, on the opening kickoff, lowering his helmet into Switzer’s helmet and shoulder.  Switzer’s 61-yard return set up the Cowboys’ first field goal and foreshadowed a sloppy first half for the Eagles.

Elliott was ruled out of the game shortly after the start of the second half.

The Eagles signed Elliott after Caleb Sturgis tore a hip flexor in the opener. Sturgis is eligible to come back from injured reserve now. But they don’t let you do that in the middle of a game.

Elliott has set a franchise record with five 50-yard-plus field goals this season.

After Elliott went down, special-teams wiz Kamu Grugier-Hill kicked into a net on the sideline. Once he missed the net.

Before returning to the lineup Sunday night for the first time since he dislocated his right ankle in the season opener, Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby once again came to the defense of his former Florida State teammate, Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston.

Winston is facing an allegation from an Uber driver that he groped her on a 2016 ride. Darby released a statement over the weekend saying that he was on the ride with Winston, and that Winston did nothing wrong.

Darby also spoke up on Winston’s behalf in the wake of a 2012 incident at Florida State,Womens T. J. Watt Jersey, in which Winston was accused of sexual assault by a woman who was also an FSU student.

In the Uber matter, the driver told BuzzFeed news that Winston was sitting next to her, and that he grabbed her crotch when they stopped at a Scottsdale, as the only passenger in the car,Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey, Ariz., fast-food takeout window.

“I felt the need to come forward and clarify some inaccurate accounts of the evening of March 13, and Jameis Winston took an Uber ride in Arizona,Womens Cameron Sutton Jersey, 2016, a friend, when myself,” Darby said in his statement. “There were three of us in the car,Authentic Joshua Dobbs Jersey, not just one as has been reported. Myself and Jameis were in the backseat. I am confident that nothing inappropriate in nature happened in the car that evening and Jameis did not have any physical contact with the Uber driver. The accusations are just not true.”

Winston released a statement in which he said the driver “was confused as to the number of passengers in the car and who was sitting next to her” – Winston seemingly leaving open the possibility that there could have been a passenger sitting next to the driver who groped her.

In the 2012 incident, Darby and FSU defensive end Chris Casher furnished affidavits in which they said they saw Winston having consensual sex with the woman in Winston’s off-campus apartment. They later declined to testify at a student conduct code hearing. Florida State and Winston eventually paid to settle with the woman in a civil suit, though no criminal charges were filed.

Darby intercepted Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott in the second quarter Sunday night, one of two interceptions the Eagles were unable to convert into points.

No Beatty or Ellerbe just yet

The two veterans the Eagles added last week, offensive tackle Will Beatty and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe,Womens Artie Burns Jersey, were inactive Sunday night.

This wasn’t a big surprise, given that coaches spoke of needing to familiarize them with the Eagles’ systems.

Also as expected, running back Wendell Smallwood was inactive. Smallwood is the fifth running back on the depth chart now, with tight end Zach Ertz returning from a one-game absence because of a hamstring injury , as a result of the trade for  Jay Ajayi.

Dallas left tackle Tyron Smith missed his second successive game with groin and back problems. Smith didn’t practice all week but was listed as questionable on Friday, instead of out.

The driver gave her account to BuzzFeed News and said that she picked Winston up in Scottsdale, Arizona at about 2 a.m. The female said Winston grabbed her when Winston reach over her while at a drive-thru resturarant.

Darby said he was in the vehicle that night and was a passenger in the back seat.

"I felt the need to come forward and clarify some inaccurate accounts of the evening of March 13, a friend and Jameis Winston took an Uber ride in Arizona, 2016 when myself," Darby said. "There were three of us in the car, not just one as has been reported. Myself and Jameis were in the backseat. I am confident that nothing inappropriate in nature happened in the car that evening and Jameis did not have any physical contact with the Uber driver. The accusations are just not true."

Darby was also at Winston's apartment the night Winston was accused of sexually assaulting former Florida State student Erica Kinsman in December 2012.

Kinsman, who sued Florida State in federal court, reached financial settlements with the school and Winston.

The Eagles opened the second half with a sharp touchdown drive after a long lull in the first half, and then added a two-point conversion out of necessity for a 15-9 lead.

Eagles rookie Corey Clement scored the touchdown, giving them a point beyond what they’d have had otherwise. It’s not what they’d draw up, and then took a lateral from Carson Wentz for the conversion., but on a night when the Cowboys are getting nothing but field field goals, it might hold up.

The Philadelphia Eagles will face the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East divisional matchup Sunday night at AT&T Stadium.

The Eagles enter Sunday’s matchup on a seven-game winning streak and they currently sit atop the NFC East standings with an 8-1 record. Quarterback Carson Wentz has thrown for 23 touchdowns and just five interceptions so far this season.

Philadelphia boosted its running game by acquiring running back Jay Ajayi from the Dolphins at the trade deadline. In his debut against the Broncos on Dec. 5, he rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles were off on a bye last week.

Dallas fell to 5-4 on the season after it was topped by Atlanta 27-7 last week. Dak Prescott has thrown for 1,994 yards and tallied 21 total touchdowns to lead the Cowboys, who will be playing without suspended running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Sporting News will be providing live updates throughout Sunday’s game. Follow along below.

10:26 p.m.: Dallas drives into Philadelphia territory, but it stalls when Prescott overthrows a receiver on third-and-10. The Eagles will start their drive at their 10 following the punt.

10:18 p.m.: Touchdown Eagles. Philadelphia converts on a third-and-1 and then drives the rest of the field before Corey Clement bursts through the line-of-scrimmage and into the end zone for an 11-yard score. The Eagles, without a kicker, go for two and convert. They now lead 15-9.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has challenged his team coming out of the bye week to stay hungry and stay humble.

"Feels awesome. Great feeling. To know how special this week means, we got to kick it up another notch and come out victorious," running back Corey Clement said.

It's rivalry week and the players and fans are ready for the Cowboys.

It doesn't get any easier ranking running backs, and you can bet our Week 11 fantasy RB rankings will undergo some changes before kickoff this weekend. First,Authentic T. J. Watt Jersey, among others), Aaron Jones/Ty Montgomery, Danny Woodhead,Authentic JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey, Rob Kelley); next there are the usage concerns (Jay Ajayi/LeGarrette Blount, Jerick McKinnon/Latavius Murray, Eddie Lacy,Authentic Cameron Sutton Jersey, there are the injuries (Devonta Freeman,Womens James Conner Jersey, and finally, there are the matchups (everyone). Finding a waiver wire sleeper isn't easy, but it might be necessary in some cases.

About the only bit of good news for fantasy owners is the four teams on bye (Panthers,Authentic James Conner Jersey, Jets, Colts, 49ers) don't upset the RB rankings too much. If anything, not feeling "forced" to start Frank Gore or Bilal Powell might be a relief to some.

Alshon Jeffery and his coach downplayed an ankle injury the past two days,Womens Joshua Dobbs Jersey, but the Philadelphia Eagles plan to list their top wide receiver as questionable for Sunday's game at the Cowboys, according to coach Doug Pederson.

Jeffery was limited in Thursday's practice and said afterward he would "most definitely" participate in the NFC East rivalry match in Dallas.

Pederson, for his part, said at a news conference Friday he expected Jeffery to play but declined to guarantee it.

"I'm optimistic he'll go,Authentic Sean Davis Jersey, yes," Pederson said.

Jeffery ranks second on the team with 34 catches for 500 yards and five touchdowns this season. Coaches have credited his presence as an explosive threat on the outside with helping open things up for a much-improved offense that has buoyed the Eagles during a surprising 8-1 start.

If Jeffery can't play or misses part of Sunday's game, younger reserve receivers Mack Hollins and Marcus Johnson could assume larger roles in the offense.

Pederson said he didn't know when Jeffery hurt his ankle, but the 6-foot-3 pass catched popped up on Thursday's injury report as a precaution.

"This time of year," Pederson said. "He's just one of those guys. He's got a little ankle right now, we got a lot of players that are nicked up,Authentic Artie Burns Jersey, getting some treatment on it. Just wanted to get him some added rest."

All 52 other Eagles players practiced in full Thursday, including tight end Zach Ertz, who missed the team's most recent game with a hamstring injury.

As for Jeffery, Pederson said the ankle injury has nagged the wideout, which isn't uncommon midway through an NFL season.

"It's been kind of lingering a little while, with all the cutting and stopping and starting in practice and games," Pederson said. "There's no really one particular game or instance. It's hard for me to even put a finger on when it happened or how it happened. It's something, in his case, too, and just where we are at that time of the year, you're probably going to start to see more guys added to the list or taking some reps off of practice so he can go Sunday."
