Seahawks,Falcons sitting pretty ahead of Lions, Cowboys

The Rams (10-4), who whipped the Seahawks on Sunday and built a two-game lead in the West with two games left to play, should feel good about their chances to remain the No. 3 seed. The Saints (10-4) are still barely leading the South over the Panthers (10-4) thanks to their season sweep of Carolina.

For those three teams, it's simple: Get to at least 11 wins, and they're in. If they fail to at least split their final two games, however, a few more doors might be left ajar for the desperate teams outside of the playoff picture.

Unfortunately for the Lions, Seahawks,Authentic Wesley Woodyard Jersey, Cowboys (all 8-6), making the playoffs like they did in 2016 probably comes down to the reigning NFC-champion Falcons free-falling out of the No. 6 seed. Even worse news: Because Atlanta beat Detroit, Seattle and Dallas earlier this season,Authentic Ryan Succop Jersey, none of those teams can get in over the Falcons with the same record.

As the standings suggest, Dallas needs to first pass Seattle and then Detroit before it can starting thinking about Atlanta.

The Cowboys can get to 10-6 by winning out, and they host the Seahawks with Ezekiel Elliott in Week 16. The next part of the equation is the Lions losing a game to either the Bengals on the road or Packers at home so Detroit finishes no better than 9-7. Since the Falcons beat the Buccaneers, the Cowboys need the Falcons to lose their final two games.

As improbable as all that sounds,Authentic Avery Williamson Jersey, with the Packers eliminated and the Falcons facing two tough final games, the Cowboys are far from dead. Their biggest obstacle is taking care of their own business. After the Seattle game, Dallas travels to Philadelphia,Authentic Jurrell Casey Jersey, where the Week 17 game still could be big for the Eagles to earn the No. 1 NFC seed.

As crazy it sounds after its Week 15 home debacle, Seattle can still win the NFC West if it wins out (at Dallas, vs. Arizona) and Los Angeles loses out (at Tennessee, vs. San Francisco). That would be a shocking-but-not-totally-impossible development.

For a wild-card spot, the Seahawks need to win out and bury the Cowboys in Week 16. They also need the Falcons to lose twice and the Lions to lose once. Had the Seahawks swept the Rams,Authentic Derrick Morgan Jersey, they almost certainly would have made the postseason. Now they're hoping for a minor miracle.

Detroit has a favorable schedule ahead in traveling to reeling Cincinnati and hosting possibly Aaron Rodgers-less Green Bay.

If the Lions just win one of those games, the Cowboys and Seahawks will be rendered helpless and hopeless in all of this. Because of that heartbreaking home loss to the Falcons in Week 3, the Lions need to be 10-6 to the Falcons' 9-7 in order to move up for the second wild card.

If Atlanta goes 2-0 it wouldn't get a wild card — it would move up to No. 4 as repeat South champions over both New Orleans and Carolina, which it plays back-to-back to finish the season. Should Atlanta go 1-1, it would stay at least at No. 6 and have an outside shot at No. 5.

The Falcons going 0-2 likely would not cut it, even with their massive tiebreaker advantages. Given how talented the Cowboys, Seahawks and Lions are, there's a good chance one of those teams will finish 10-6.

The Eagles have a similar opportunity in the NFC, as there are three Week 16 scenarios in which Philadelphia can clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Vikings can clinch a first-round bye. The Rams, after demolishing the Seahawks in Week 15, can officially clinch the division Sunday.

The NFC South is a playoff picture worth watching on its own. All three contenders from the division have chances to clinch playoff berths in Week 16. Unlike the Panthers and Falcons, however, the Saints have a chance to win the division this week.

This time, the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers both enter the game with their backup quarterbacks starting. But in the case of the Vikings, the backup has played well enough to become the starter for the rest of the season and perhaps long-term.

“I had a coach tell me, ‘It’s never really as good as it seems and it’s never really as bad as it seems,’” Keenum said after a 34-7 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. “I try not to stay too high with the highs or too low with the lows, stay the same guy all the time. I love the fans. I love the support that we get from [U.S. Bank Stadium], but like I said I’m just trying to do my job every day.”

“The last time we played [the Vikings], that was my first extended time ever in the league in a regular-season game,” Hundley said. “It was a bit of a shock, obviously nerves are running high, my heart is about to bust out of my chest and nerves are going. But now I feel comfortable. I feel like I’m playing my game and I’m just having fun and that’s pretty much the biggest thing.”

Here is how to watch or listen to the drama unfold, Womens Jurrell Casey Jersey, starting at 7:30 p.m. Central on Saturday, with rankings, links to the injury report, odds and more:

Minnesota Vikings left guard Nick Easton will need to undergo season-ending surgery after fracturing his right ankle in the first quarter of Saturday's 16-0 win over the Green Bay Packers, according to coach Mike Zimmer.

Easton suffered the injury with 3:05 to play in the opening frame during a play on which running back Latavius Murray picked up an 8-yard gain. Easton was tended to by trainers for several minutes and could not put any weight on his ankle as he was helped off the field.

Saturday marked the first time since Oct. 9 that all five starting offensive linemen started a game together. Reserve guard Jeremiah Sirles filled in for Easton once he exited the game.

Easton was one of a handful of Vikings injured on the night.

Long-snapper Kevin McDermott will undergo an MRI after a shoulder injury he sustained with 27 seconds remaining in the second quarter caused him to miss the remainder of the game.

McDermott's long-snapping duties were handed off in the second half to tight end David Morgan, who executed successful snaps on 20- and 27-yard field goals by Kai Forbath.

"That was great for a guy that never really has done that, definitely not in a professional football game," Zimmer said. "I thought he did outstanding. The first field goal snap was a little shaky. The last field goal snap to put us up by two scores was good. The second punt snap was actually better than the first,Womens Wesley Woodyard Jersey, and it shows a lot about our team.

"We had some guys go down tonight, and other guys stepped in and continued to fight. That's what this team is: a bunch of fighters that really don't care about who gets the credit."

Defensive tackle Shamar Stephen had to be carted off to the locker room when he injured his ankle late in the second quarter. Stephen was injured on a play on which Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson caught a 25-yard pass, which was subsequently overturned when Minnesota challenged the catch. A late substitution caused the Vikings to be penalized for having 12 men on the field,Womens Ryan Succop Jersey,as an injured Stephen couldn't get off the field in time.

While winning at Lambeau Field means a lot to the Minnesota Vikings, the NFC North champions have bigger goals in mind.

A first-round playoff bye is well within reach, Womens Avery Williamson Jersey, and could be secured as soon as Sunday.

The Vikings took care of business on their end with a 16-0 victory Saturday night over the injury-depleted Green Bay Packers, the team's first shutout in 24 years. Having already clinched the division title,Womens Brett Kern Jersey, Minnesota (12-3) can wrap up a first-round bye if the Carolina Panthers lose or tie on Sunday against Tampa Bay.

"I'm hoping we can get one more win, work on some things we need to work on ... and then go out and play our rear ends off in the playoffs," Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said.

Stefon Diggs caught a 4-yard pass from quarterback Case Keenum just inside the back line of the end zone in the first quarter for the only touchdown. After the game,Authentic Brett Kern Jersey, Keenum stopped before heading up the tunnel at Lambeau, clapping his hands above his head while Vikings fans chanted "Skol! Skol!"

The hard turf at chilly Lambeau didn't help, either, as some players had trouble with their footing early in the game. With the Packers unable to connect on medium-to-long-range passes, Womens Derrick Morgan Jersey, their best plays came when Hundley broke free for big gains on the run .

In the stands, fans bundled up in parkas, huddled under blankets and sipped on free hot chocolate to stay warm. Purple-clad Minnesota backers celebrated on a night when temperatures were in the single digits.
