Sharks Trying to Trade Veteran Defenseman

Sharks Trying to Trade Veteran Defenseman

and have seemingly forced Martin out of the lineup.,He left the second game of the season with an ankle injury, and spent much of the year on injured reserve. In his absence, Tim Heed and Joakim Ryan established themselves as regulars along the San Jose blueline

The 36-year-old has not played in an NHL game since Dec. 7, and is now reportedly on the verge of being traded. The Sharks are now "trying to find him another spot in the NHL," Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported.

A trade could come quickly. Defenseman Dylan DeMelo is ready to be activated from injured reserve, and San Jose will need to make a corresponding roster move.

Joakim Ryan," head coach Peter DeBoer told reporters Saturday morning, and Marcus Sorensen can be sent down to the minor leagues without being exposed to waivers, but the Sharks would risk losing any other player to a waiver claim. Otherwise,Timo Meier, the Sharks will have to make some "tough decisions, according to the Mercury News.

and take themselves out of that conversation for the next game, in my mind, so that puts everybody on notice when they're in there to make the most of the fact that they're in there,"We've got NHL players, sitting out every night," DeBoer said.

Martin played in at least 78 games over each of his first two seasons in San Jose. He averaged over 19 minutes per night in ice time, and played alongside Brent Burns for the bulk of the last two years. Burns was a Norris Trophy finalist both years, and won the award last season.

It took Aaron Dell 38 games to get into his first career shootout, and the San Jose Sharks goalie made it a good one.

Dell was perfect through the three rounds of the shootout and had 30 saves, and Joe Pavelski scored the only goal of the tiebreaker to lift San Jose over the Arizona Coyotes 3-2 on Tuesday night.

"I only had to make one save. The other two guys missed the net," Dell said.

The Sharks beat Arizona for the second time in four days after Saturday's overtime win.

"Nights like this is where you need a spark from somebody,Authentic Ivan Provorov jersey," Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said of Dell. "That's the reason he's in there. He gave us one."

Antti Raanta had 20 saves for Arizona. Brad Richardson had a goal and assist, but the Coyotes lost their fourth straight game and have dropped 17 of 21.

Still, Arizona earned its fifth point in the past five games by forcing overtime for the third time in that stretch.

"Our team played well. You'd like to obviously win the game but that's a veteran team over there," Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said. "They've got a lot of experience. Five-on-five,Authentic Travis Konecny jersey, I thought obviously we were the better team."

who turned and delivered a backhand pass to Thornton. Raanta left too much empty net to allow Thornton his 11th goal at 5:37 of the first.,The Sharks, playing the second game of a back-to-back for the eighth time this season, adidas Travis Konecny jersey, scored first on a power play. Thornton centered to Logan Couture

which is 5 of 10 in its last five games. "Just got to continue to work at it.","Every time we touch the ice, good things seem to happen right now," Thornton said the Sharks' power play

Boedker made it 2-0 when he scored against his former team. Boedker, adidas Claude Giroux jersey, traded away from Arizona in February 2016 during his eighth season in the desert, sent a wrist shot past defenseman Alex Goligoski and Raanta 34 seconds into the second period.

"We come up with speed through the neutral zone and I was able to get a good shot off through their defenseman, and it went in," Boedker said.

The Coyotes made it 2-1 at 16:05 of the second. Jordan Martinook knocked down Jason Demers' high shot with his stick and into the net for Martinook's fourth goal.

Richardson was there to clean up a rebound when Nick Cousins' shot bounced off Dell's body. The goal at 6:10 of the third culminated a stretch of strong offensive play from the Coyotes, who put shot after shot on Dell in the final period as fatigue seemed to set in on the road-weary Sharks.

"Going back-to-back is tough. Obviously we didn't play the third like we wanted to," Thornton said. "But to get points on the road ... it's a huge two points."

How we rank: We use a panel of voters, and these rankings reflect which teams voters think would win head-to-head matchups. Higher-ranked teams are favored over lower-ranked teams. A run of wins doesn't guarantee a jump, and a couple of losses don't guarantee a fall.

Dell should see action in at least two of San Jose’s five games this upcoming week. The Sharks have two back-to-back situations on tap and if I had to guess that could place him in goal against Arizona and Pittsburgh. Dell has been a superb backup this season with a 9-3-2 record, a 2.29 goals-against average, a .924 save percentage and two shutouts.

Bernier has helped backstop the Avalanche to five wins in his last five appearances, while allowing two goals or less in each outing. He has registered four victories since Semyon Varlamov went down with a groin injury. Varlamov is projected to be sidelined for at least another couple of weeks, Authentic Wayne Simmonds jersey,so Bernier will get more opportunities to start for a surging Colorado club.

have been playing well lately as well.,Krejci has been productive this campaign with 0.78 points per game. Unfortunately, he has been limited to 23 appearances due to injuries. Krejci has seven goals and 18 points when he’s been in the lineup along with eight power-play points and 41 shots. He has also won 57.2 percent of his 362 total faceoffs. Krejci’s linemates, Jake DeBrusk and Ryan Spooner

Okposo has finally heated up with nine points in the past eight matches. He has racked up one goal and four assists in the last two games, adidas Ivan Provorov jersey, while playing alongside Jack Eichel. Okposo’s improved consistency is encouraging and he could be worth keeping an eye on if you don’t feel like taking a chance on him yet.

Dadonov has accounted for two goals and three assists over a four-game point streak. He is back on the top line with Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov. Dadonov has been successful in his return to the NHL with 26 points and 85 shots in 35 contests.

Beauvillier has fantasy value as long he continues to play on the Islanders' second line with Mathew Barzal and Jordan Eberle. He has been filling in for Andrew Ladd,Authentic Ivan Provorov jersey, who has been out for the last two games due to injury. Beauvillier has three goals and one assist in the past two contests. It will be interesting to see if he keeps that spot when Ladd is ready to return.

Mikkel Boedker is hitting the reset button so often it probably needs some new electrical wiring. He’s hoping it still has enough juice midway through his second season with the Sharks to get his career back on track.

but it’s a progression.,adidas Ivan Provorov jersey,“I’ve got to get more to the net,” Boedker said. “So far, I think I could have done a little bit better

Boedker came into training camp resolved to morph himself into a grittier inside player. He wanted to play more like Pavelski, adidas Wayne Simmonds jersey, who has scored 303 NHL goals with less size, speed and natural talent.

But Boedker’s production actually declined in the first half as he’s recorded just three goals and nine points, spending most of his minutes skating in a third or fourth line role.

Regardless,Authentic Claude Giroux jersey, DeBoer insists that the 28-year-old forward can still turn the corner and fulfill the potential of his contract.

you try sitting him to try to jolt him out of it.,adidas Shayne Gostisbehere jersey,“I don’t think his role is established. I still think there’s upside there,” the Sharks coach said. “It’s on us to get it out of him. You try different tools. You try pats on the back, kicks in the (expletive),Authentic Shayne Gostisbehere jersey, you try to let him play through it
