Shoulder injury could be a year-long issue for Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson

Shoulder injury could be a year-long issue for Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson
Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, is playing hurt once again. And the shoulder injury he's playing through probably won't be going away anytime soon. , who was hindered by injury for his entire 2016 season

Jets coach Todd Bowles said that Wilkerson will "probably" be dealing with this shoulder injury for the final 13 games of the season.,Womens Derek Carr Jersey,Wilkerson acknowledged Wednesday that he has a grade-one sprain of the AC joint in his shoulder. Wilkerson has not gone through a full practice since suffering the injury in a Week 2 loss at Oakland. And after Wilkerson sat out Wednesday's practice

"That's football, it feels good come Sunday. "," Wilkerson said. "It comes with the business. I'll take care of it each and every day. And hopefully

Wilkerson's admitted that taking some time off from playing would likely make his shoulder feel better. But the 27-year-old made it clear that he's only interested in taking one week off this season

"The bye week, and I'm going to play through it." ," Wilkerson said. And that's not until mid-November. "I'm going to play through it. I'm going to do whatever I can for my brothers out there. I want to be out there

and Bowles agreed. He finished with only one tackle and played 39 of 63 defensive snaps -- which was nine snaps less than defensive end Leonard Williams took on Sunday. Bowles said he tried to limit snaps for the defensive linemen because of the high temperatures on Sunday.,Authentic Marshawn Lynch Jersey,Wilkerson said that he was still able to do a sound job during Sunday's win over the Dolphins

Bowles said Wilkerson's injury is basically a pain tolerance issue.

"He played well the other day. He's just sore afterward. It's just how much he can tolerate and he'll let me know whether he can or can't, refusing to detail the exact nature of the injury. "It's a sore shoulder. When it gets hit it hurts. He hits every play up there up front."," Bowles said

even if he doesn't practice much. ,Womens Carson Wentz Jersey,Wilkerson later provided the exact diagnosis and said he's undergoing treatment every day. And he doesn't expect it to limit his production or force him out of games

" Wilkerson said. "I'm going to do my job. ... I'm good. I'm fine. I'll be alright." ,"I'm not going to go out there on Sunday and worry about it

Wilkerson later admitted that his surgically repaired leg bothered him all of last season. It showed in Wilkerson's numbers,Wilkerson suffered a broken leg in the final game of 2015, and though he made it back for the first game of 2016,Authentic Joe Montana Jersey, as he notched only 4.5 sacks. For comparison, Wilkerson had 12 sacks in 2015.

$86 million contract extension in July of 2016. ,Wilkerson has yet to record a sack in 2017. And this will mark the second straight season that he's dealing with an injury since signing a five-year

But Wilkerson said there's no angst to be dealing with an injury yet again.

"I told you," he said. "I'm not frustrated or anything.", I'll be alright

and there's a chance he won't play Sunday against the Jaguars. ,Veteran running back Matt Forte did not practice on Wednesday as he deals with turf toe in his left foot

"I have no idea," Forte said. "I have to wait to see how it feels, if I'm able to practice, and we'll go from there."

Forte, did some light workouts with the trainers on Wednesday. Forte said he suffered the injury during a carry near the end zone in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. He dealt with turf toe in the other foot as a rookie in 2008. , 31

"It's tough to deal with because the nature of your position as a running back, even blocking. So I know it's tough to deal with. I've fought through it before."," Forte said. "Obviously a lot of pressure on your toes when you're running and making cuts

Forte said this case is less severe than what he dealt with as a rookie. He also said he's considering finding a way to tape the toe or using orthotics to enable him to play.

" Forte said. The Jets signed running back Travaris Cadet on Wednesday as an insurance policy in case Forte can't play. Cadet played 15 games for the Saints in 2016. The Jets also put reciever Charone Peake on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain. Bowles said Peake could be a candidate to return via short-term injured reserve. ,"I'm taking every angle possible that I can to get back on the field as fast as possible

says he 'is not really my president',Jets' Jeremy Kerley blasts 'hated' Donald Trump

Wide receiver Jeremy Kerley on Wednesday offered the strongest public condemnation yet from the Jets ' locker room of President Donald Trump profanely ripping NFL players who choose to peacefully protest the national anthem.

Kerley spoke at length,In response to a question about his thoughts on Trump's remarks, and the state of America under Trump, blasting the president, who has received support from Jets owner Woody Johnson -- Trump's current ambassador to the United Kingdom.

in an interview with NJ Advance Media:,Kerley's complete answer

the things that he says are kind of almost irrelevant to me. I don't really care to understand his point of view or what he's saying. Granted,"I don't think about the president. I don't care about Trump. To me, Trump is not really my president. I don't look at Trump as my president. Trump is Trump. At the end of the day, a lot of his decisions have to deal with my kids or the things that they'll have to go through in their future. Luckily for me, I've kind of laid my way to where I can kind of weave through on certain things. I'm not financially hurting anymore.

man, free protesting football players. We've got so much more to worry about,"But I just think at the end of the day, there's just so much more going on out here, especially worrying about someone taking a knee, protesting the right way, the stuff that's going on in Korea right now, man. Honestly, that should be your main job. That should be your main focus. This is just me talking. If I was the president, that would be my main focus.

he wants to weigh in on it. It's not a pissing contest with the world. As the president,"It just seems like every certain thing that goes on, Trump,Womens Authentic Derek Carr Jersey, you've got a job to do. Your job is not to sit over here and worry about NFL guys free protesting. Your job is to worry about: What's the situation going on right now in Korea? And how am I going to fix that? Because I think North Korea,Authentic Amari Cooper Jersey, their army might be a little bit more powerful than the NFL. He might want to worry about that."

even though he disagrees with the owner's political stance.,Kerley said he respects Johnson

"I don't know if it's an opportunity for Woody or whatever it is, just as a person and what I've seen for the last five,Womens Brian Dawkins Jersey," Kerley said of Johnson being in Trump's administration. "So I can't really speak on it, but I have a lot of respect for Woody, that's his decision. But I have direct issues with the president, six years that I was here. Whatever his decision is, not Woody."

The Jets drafted Kerley in 2011. He played with them through 2015. Last season,Womens Amari Cooper Jersey, Colin Kaepernick, he played for the 49ers, as their quarterback,Womens Joe Montana Jersey, to draw attention to racial and social justice issues,Authentic Brian Dawkins Jersey, sat or kneeled during the anthem, including police brutality against black citizens. The Jets re-signed Kerley shortly before this season began.

Kerley, is tied for the fourth-longest tenured player in the Jets' locker room -- a veteran on a mostly young team. He does not believe his teammates have an issue with their owner being handed an ambassador job by Trump after prominently supporting his election., 28

but I haven't heard anybody voice their opinion,"I think if it did [bother players], maybe people would voice their opinion, so I don't think it's a problem," Kerley said.

Kerley explained why he doesn't view Trump as his president.

"I just don't really respect him like that, see how many people he could get on his side. When he won," he said. "First of all, I think him being elected was kind of like a joke. I don't even think he thought he was going to win. I think he just wanted to see how long it was going to go, it's good, it was probably a shock to him. Then again, and I've heard a lot of people say it: We've got to destruct before we rebuild and things are great.

"So this is just that -- hopefully short -- destruction period, who is hated by everybody, and things will be great again, man. I don't understand how you elect someone, Authentic Carson Wentz Jersey,as this president, being that a lot of people voted for him, the majority of everybody. I don't get that, or whatever the case is. If you're hated by the majority of [people], I don't understand it."

he will stand for the anthem.,Though Kerley does not respect Trump's presidency

"I don't necessarily care about kneeling," he said. "My protest is totally different than everybody else's protest. I choose to protest in certain other ways. Those things are kind of private to me. I don't really get into the whole: I've got to take a knee and do all that. I choose to protest, along with my family, in different ways. But that's just me."

Before last Sunday's win over the Dolphins, the Jets -- including acting owner Christopher Johnson, Woody's younger brother -Authentic Carson Wentz Jersey,- locked arms during the anthem, in a show of unity. Kerley said "of course" he agreed with that gesture.

I'm with that,"It was cool for us to lock arms like that," he said. "If that's another way to show a message, because I believe in what everybody was trying to say. If my teammates want to do that, of course I'll be a part of that. Of course I'll help that.

"But at the end of the day, and that I think is the best thing for me. Don't get me wrong. I'll be standing. I've got respect for my coaches and stuff. I'll be standing or whatever.", I'm going to be me. I'm going to do the same things that I've done

while standing,By "the same things that I've done," Kerley means stretching, during the anthem. He has done it since last year, and he does not view it as a form of protest.

"Nah, I see it as a form of getting some more stretching in," he said. "I've got the same routine every time that we do the [anthem]. I stretch. That's just my thing. I'm not [showing] any disrespect. I don't put my hand over my heart. I don't sit there standing still. I stretch. That's just me. I've been doing that. I just stretch my body [while standing up]. I really just want to get a little more [stretching] in, so I saw that as an opportunity."

He said he will continue to do this. It is not clear if the Jets will again do the arm-locking anthem gesture before Sunday's home game against the Jaguars. Jets coach Todd Bowles said the team hadn't talked about it yet.
