Wednesday’s NHL roundup: Struggling Blackhawks acquire Duclair from Arizona

Wednesday’s NHL roundup: Struggling Blackhawks acquire Duclair from Arizona

Chicago also got defenseman Adam Clendening in the move that seeks to shake up a perennial contender fighting to maintain a playoff position. The NHL-worst Coyotes received winger Richard Panik and minor leaguer Laurent Dauphin.

Duclair has nine goals and six assists in 33 games this season, Duclair had 20 goals and 24 assists in 81 games in 2015-16, scoring in each of his last two games after asking the Coyotes to trade him. Acquired from New York in 2015 in the deal that sent Keith Yandle to the Rangers, adidas Patrik Laine jersey, then had only five goals and 10 assists in 58 games last season.

“It’s gone back for a few years now where the team wasn’t particularly happy with the player and the player wasn’t particularly happy with the team,” said.

Left wing Brad Marchand will represent Boston on the Atlantic Division team at the 3-on-3 All-Star tournament on Jan. 28 in Tampa, Florida.

The league-leading Tampa Bay Lightning will be the best represented team at the event, top scorer Nikita Kucherov, with captain Steven Stamkos, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy and defenseman Victor Hedman joining Marchand on the Atlantic Division team.

Coach Phil Housley said it was “good to see some emotion” from his struggling team after forward Evander Kane and defenseman Justin Falk had to be separated following a brief shoving match during practice Wednesday.

Forward Bobby Ryan did not travel with the team to Toronto on Wednesday because of a hand injury. The team did not yet know how long he will be sidelined.

Tom Pyatt broke a tie with 3:05 left and Ottawa won at Toronto in the final game for both teams before their bye weeks.

Pyatt took a feed from Matt Duchene on a 3-on-1 – after Toronto defenseman Morgan Rielly got caught pinching at Ottawa’s blue line – and beat Frederik Andersen high to the blocker side.

Thomas Chabot, Mike Hoffman and Gabriel Dumont also scored for the Senators. Craig Anderson made 44 saves.

A potentially-stellar road trip turned on a dime in Ottawa as the Sharks coughed up a three-goal lead in the third period before losing just seven seconds into overtime.

Rather than heading into the final game of a grueling five-game roadie that started in Texas, swung through Eastern Canada and finishes up in Winnipeg with a comfortable 2-1-1 record, the Sharks will need to salvage the trip with a win over the Central Division’s top team while playing their fifth game in eight days Sunday.

That’s why it was so shocking to see the Senators swarm into the Sharks zone in waves, recording 15 of the period’s first 16 shots and tying the game with goals from Derick Brassard just 26 seconds in, Matt Duchene at 8:25 and Mike Hoffman at 10:48.

Duchene capped off the comeback by scoring on a two on one with Hoffman just seven seconds into overtime.

” head coach Pete DeBoer said. “Over an 82-game season,“Just one of those nights, or a couple a year,Authentic Auston Matthews jersey, you’re going to have a night, where the other team grabs some momentum and it’s hard to get it back. That’s what happened tonight.”

It’s true that every team will lay three or four eggs over the course of an 82-game season and also blow a couple leads at some point during the six month grind. The troublesome part is that the head-scratching losses came just six days apart.

“It’s frustrating because we played a pretty good 40 minutes,Authentic Daniel Sedin jersey,” defenseman Brenden Dillon said. “Especially for a back-to-back against a hungry team. But it’s just unacceptable for us.”

A couple points in Dillon’s statement might explain the collapse. The Sharks probably let up a bit with a three-goal cushion and fatigue may have set in after a hard-fought shootout loss in Toronto Thursday.

Logan Couture collected three points,Everyone got to eat their cookies in the first two periods. Tomas Hertl scored two goals, Joonas Donskoi recorded his first point in nine games,Authentic Henrik Sedin jersey, Chris Tierney scored his second goal in as many nights and Joakim Ryan earned his fourth career point., Brent Burns picked up two points,Authentic Alex Ovechkin jersey, Tim Heed grabbed his first point since Dec. 10

It would have been human for a stingy third period team to feel like they had two points in the bank against a squad that’s circling the drain only to have fatigue set in once the momentum switched its direction.

But Couture, who rarely shies away from honesty after a loss, dismissed the suggestion.

“No,Authentic T. J. Oshie jersey, but every team goes through three in four, no that wasn’t the situation. You can say tired,” the Sharks alternate captain said. “That’s no excuse.

“I just don’t think any line stepped up and had a good shift. It was just bad shift after bad shift and it snowballed.”

The Sharks earned a single point Thursday after falling to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a six-round shootout. The loss felt more like a tie because the Sharks played a hard-fought game,Authentic Patrik Laine jersey, but lost the extra point in a skills competition.

On Friday, the Sharks allowed the second point to slip through their fingers.

But DeBoer is looking at the single point through a more Buddhist lens: a point’s a point.

By earning the point, the Sharks hold a one-point edge over the Anaheim Ducks for the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division.

“We’re in a real race here, and every one matters, obviously,” he said. “We’ll take the point and move on.”

With Patrick Marleau in Toronto and Joe Thornton coming off offseason knee surgery, he recorded his first points since returning from the injury, Couture drove the Sharks bus until he suffered a head injury on Dec. 15. On Friday, looking like the player who was putting together a career year over the first two months of the season.

The bye week for all NHL teams gets its start this week as 13 teams only play once. Each team in the next few weeks will get a five day break so there are only 31 games this week in the NHL. After tonight there will be 30 as there is only one game in the NHL tonight.

Jonathan Bernier was the second star of the week as he took over from the injured Semyon Varlamov and was a perfect 3-0 with a 1.60 GAA and a .957 save percentage.

And the third star was Sidney Crosby who had only one assist in his first two contests this past week but had a goal and six assists in two games on the weekend to grab the final spot.

Jordan Schwartz, was seen walking without any aids nor a limp Monday. His next step will be to start skating. He must be ahead of schedule as he was not expected to see doctors until the six week mark and he is seems to be beyond that point., who injured his ankle on December 9

Cody Franson was placed on waivers by the Blackhawks Monday.

There is not a ton of news due to the fact that most teams are on vacation and not allowed to practice.

but they scored twice with less than five minutes remaining in the game and then won it in overtime 3-2.,You never give up. The Columbus Blue Jackets were trailing 2-0 heading into the third period and were being outshot 12-1 in the final stanza by Toronto

especially in the third when he held the Blue Jackets in the game long enough for Columbus to score twice on only four shots in the third.,Both goalies were spectacular but Sergei Bobrovsky was just a bit better

Bobrovsky had no chance on either Maple Leaf goal in the second period after a scoreless first frame. James van Riemsdyk deflected a Roman Polak shot from the point to give Toronto a 1-0 lead.

The Maple Leafs started pouring it on and after a Josh Anderson slashing penalty on Auston Matthews, a small hole short side in the top corner., William Nylander scored on a howitzer from the point that somehow found the one spot Bobrovsky was not covering

The Maple Leafs took the 2-0 lead into the third and it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Toronto would be victorious as they dominated a Columbus team that played the night before.

However, the Blue Jackets scored a couple of late goals. The first one came courtesy of Jordan Schroeder who scored his first of the season in his 16th game. It could be changed to Nick Foligno as it sure looked like he knocked it past            Frederik Andersen after Schroeder’s shot went high and over Andersen. It changed the game.,adidas Auston Matthews jersey, as mentioned earlier

Morgan Rielly had a horrible turnover trying to make a stretch pass and Seth Jones intercepted it. He took it over the blueline and found Pierre-Luc Dubois who fired the puck from the slot past Andersen.

The overtime was wide open at times but Artemi Panarin ended it when he took a pass from Zach Werenski and put it into the empty cage. It was thought that he directed the puck in with his skate but he did get his stick on it for the winner.

It really looks like Nylander has his game back. He has four goals and 10 points in his last 10 games and he is showing that his confidence level could be at an all-time high in the NHL as not only did he score on a laser shot but he is showing moves that dazzle his opponents. It could be a good time to get him if available in trade in your fantasy draft as he should be owned at this time.

Dubois has really come on of late especially since Thanksgiving as he has seven goals and 17 points in 22 games. He was taken third overall in 2016 and spent last season back in junior hockey before making the Blue Jackets this season out of training camp as a 19-year-old.
